    How to remove the background from a photo

    About the Background Remover tool

    People are detected and cut out automatically. For products, pets and other objects, tap the subject and the tool selects it; tap again with “Remove” to erase anything it got wrong. Each tap updates the preview in about a second.

    Edges are refined at full resolution with an edge-aware filter, so hair, fingers and product outlines follow the real photo instead of a blocky mask. The download keeps your photo’s full size.

    Frequently asked questions

    How do I make the background transparent?

    Add your photo, keep “Transparent” selected and save as PNG or WebP. Both formats keep transparency; JPG does not, so JPG files get a white or colored background instead.

    Can it remove the background from product photos?

    Yes. If no person is found, the object in the middle of the photo is selected. Tap your product to add it, or use “− Remove” to erase extra areas. Plain, contrasting backgrounds give the cleanest edges.

    Is my photo uploaded to a server?

    No. The AI models are downloaded to your browser and run on your device. Your photos are never sent anywhere, which also means there are no limits or waiting in a queue.

    Will the image lose quality?

    No. The result is saved at the original resolution. PNG is lossless; WebP and JPG are saved at high quality.

    Can I put a white background on a passport or visa photo?
