About the PNG to JPG tool

JPG is the most widely accepted image format and is much smaller than PNG for photos, which makes it the right choice for email attachments, online forms and websites.

JPG cannot store transparency. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are blended onto the background color you choose (white by default), so logos and cut-outs look clean instead of turning black.

    Frequently asked questions

What happens to transparent backgrounds when converting PNG to JPG?

They are filled with the background color you pick, white by default. Soft edges are blended smoothly into that color.

What JPG quality should I choose?

The default of 90 looks identical to the original for almost every image. Use 75 to 80 if you need smaller files, for example for email.

Will my PNG screenshots look blurry as JPG?

At quality 90 and above, colors are kept at full resolution, which keeps text and sharp edges crisp. Very low quality settings can blur small text.

    Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device.
